History

Rumpke Portable Restrooms began in 1986 when Rumpke purchased a Cincinnati-based portable restroom company, Bear Necessity. Rumpke used the toilets and trucks included in the purchase to begin the business. This portable restroom operation complimented Rumpke’s roll off and construction services.

Rumpke continued to expand its portable restroom services through acquisitions. Rumpke expanded into Dayton, Ohio, market with the purchase of a company called Handi-Kan in 1989. Rumpke then added restroom service in Columbus, Ind., Louisville, Ky. and Georgetown, Ohio.

Rumpke Portable Restrooms is currently headquartered in Norwood, Ohio, with districts throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. With more 10,000 toilets, Rumpke plans to continue its growth in the portable restroom industry in the future.
